German actor and comedian Christoph Maria Herbst (b. February 9, 1966 in Wuppertal, Germany) first gained notice in the 1997 TV comedy show Sketchup -- The Next Generation, and then as a supporting actor in Ladykracher from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, he landed the lead role in the TV series Stromberg, Germany's version of the successful British series The Office. He's also appeared in several theatrical features, among them Michael Herbig's Star Trek parody (T)Raumschiff Surpise -- Periode 1 (Dreamship Surprise: Period 1), Helmut Dietl's Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe (About the Looking for and the Finding of Love), and Tobi Baumann's Der Wixxer (all in 2004). Herbst has recorded audio books for a number of Tommy Jaud novels: Vollidiot (2004), Resturlaub (2006), and Millionär (2007). ~ Christian Genzel, Rovi
