Chyn is a Nigerian musical artist whose music can be described as “Alternative rap”. His music draws its influences from all kinds of genres which include Afrobeat, soul, Jazz and Electronic music. He also centers his art around strong, captivating Imagery which has made him stand out in the music industry.
Chyn released his first full-length Ep “The Graduate” in 2014 which garnered a cult following and has since worked with various prominent Nigerian artists like Ladipoe, Obongjayar, Ice Prince, Funbi, Jinmi Abduls, Ozone, Payper Corleone, & Falz. Falz and Chyn collaborated on various songs most notably the hits “Chardonnay Music” (2015) and “BIG” (2015). He subsequently released critically acclaimed singles “Omo Kekere”(2017), “Maybe”(Feat. Ladipoe)(2019), “Hosanna” (Feat. Fxrtune)(2022) and “I know” (Feat. Asiri)(2023). His single, “Hosanna” opened to rave reviews and became one of the most prominent rap songs on radio, while also getting nominated for the prestigious 2023 Soundcity MVP awards for “Best rap song” of the year.
He is popularly known for his eclectic sound and represents a new crop of Nigerian artists putting African music on the world stage.
