Cicada Song is a songwriting collaboration between Alison Kinney and <a href="spotify:artist:0aqFMM8Pga9fDaRhJ23CWk" data-name="Cyrus Smith">Cyrus Smith</a>, frequently accompanied by <a href="spotify:artist:4SnUMLr9huDJWGGxYJnaMu" data-name="Daniel Nickerson">Daniel Nickerson</a>. Originally formed in North Carolina, Cicada Song soon moved back to their native California, where they live among the redwoods on the northern coast. Their album "Marigold," released in the summer of 2020, was recorded in the great hall of the Sanctuary, an art & music non-profit in Arcata, California. The album features Kinney's vocals and Smith's acoustic guitar, with the accompaniment of multi-instrumentalist Daniel Nickerson (<a href="spotify:artist:78SGKeM0knsjAAanYVW2O2" data-name="The Cowtown Serenaders">The Cowtown Serenaders</a>), and backing vocals of Hazel Rickard (<a href="spotify:artist:6BjIeJaaw9agTrTdr7jsrS" data-name="Hazel Ra">Hazel Ra</a>), and <a href="spotify:artist:2v42mOAHmqHXKMKQVSkveZ" data-name="Barbie Hatch">Barbie Hatch</a>.
