Cindy McTee is an American composer, known especially for her eclectic orchestral music and works for concert band. She pursued music studies at Pacific Lutheran University, the Academy of Music in Krakow, Yale University, and the University of Iowa. Among her teachers were <a href="spotify:artist:5wfXvI6h0rC0xutmo11UPP">Jacob Druckman</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0qEO82Hj3SvjoNyEfKpRku">Krzysztof Penderecki</a>. She became a professor at the University of North Texas College of Music in 1984, and retired with emeritus status in 2010. She is the recipient of a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation, a Fulbright fellowship, and a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts. She has won several awards, and her music has been performed by major orchestras and bands in the United States. In 2011, McTee married conductor <a href="spotify:artist:0xcogVKoT8y5OBIg3L0fua">Leonard Slatkin</a>, who recorded a CD of her music with the <a href="spotify:artist:1TuMl6QKOFwgQZzzhzuds4">Detroit Symphony Orchestra</a> on the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Naxos%22">Naxos</a> label.
