Cinzia Catania

Cinzia Catania is an accomplished singer, educator, composer & lyricist, currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. Cinzia’s mixed-cultural background (Half Swiss-Sicilian) flows into her unique and visionary style.
She earned a Bachelor of Music in Groningen (Netherlands) and Graz (Austria), followed by two Master Degrees in Jazz Pedagogy and Composition from HSLU in Switzerland. The voices that influenced her early musical path were Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, <a href="spotify:artist:3MdG05syQeRYPPcClLaUGl" data-name="Diana Ross">Diana Ross</a> &amp; Dinah Washington. Her love for Big Band music was shaped by Charles Mingus, the <a href="spotify:artist:522GUUGbwsB92g5WAajivK" data-name="Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra">Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:61bWkkCyCh1jSBmAKdC7sg" data-name="Maria Schneider">Maria Schneider</a> beyond others. She had quite some recognition in that area and won some prices. One of her compositions has been awarded with the 1st price at the “Jazz Comp” in Graz.
She fearlessly blends different genres to express herself and is always seeking new ways to explore and create music. Currently she is collaborating with the young and promising producer <a href="spotify:artist:1lKgrajFyGCa9nq0grjZ9A" data-name="Daniel Somaroo">Daniel Somaroo</a> aka <a href="spotify:artist:4LFj74qjc5Z2SIitGknr5Y" data-name="PHSE SHFT">PHSE SHFT</a>.
