Circles and Ellipses

Circles and Ellipses (Chris Whitten) came to prominence in the 1980's, playing drums with The Waterboys, World Party and Julian Cope. Whitten drummed on The Waterboys enduring anthem ‘The Whole Of The Moon’, World Party’s Grammy nominated ‘Goodbye Jumbo’ album, Chrissie Hynde's songs for the ‘Living Daylights’ James Bond score, and on the double platinum ‘Shooting Rubberbands...’ album by Edie Brickell. In 1987 Chris joined Paul McCartney to record the critically acclaimed ‘Flowers In The Dirt’ album alongside Elvis Costello, Trevor Horn, Geoff Emerick and George Martin. McCartney’s studio band then undertook a sell out world tour.

By the mid-90's he'd set up a London studio and was scoring music for film and tv. In 1994 Whitten collaborated with Simon Boswell on the Philips Cdi game ‘Burn:Cycle’. The music has endured with an enthusiastic following.

Over the next ten years Whitten delved back into drumming, touring with World Party across North America and supporting Steely Dan in Australia/New Zealand. Chris also played on Kirk Degiorgio's two 'Beauty Room' albums.

In 2018 Here And Now Recordings remastered and rereleased the ‘Burn:Cycle’ soundtrack, which prompted Whitten to rework some of his original music. Whitten’s ‘Reworks’ EP was released in early 2019, under his new alias of Circles and Ellipses.
