The idea to form a band being born in 2020, Cirque de la Merde really came into existence when they recorded their 3-track Demo „мир“ (russian for „world“ but also „peace“ respectively) pretty much in one go the following year. Based in Innsbruck, Austria, the four members already knew each other from the tiny but lively diy-punk scene; the rythm section already played together in the frantically playful punk outfit MAHONEY. Said Demo quickly found the attention of english diy punk tape label guru „Noise Merchant“, which subsequently led to a split tape release with Nuremberg Post-Punks in KAVIAR. From 2022 on gigs in Southern Germany and the rest of Austria followed, solidifying the band’s own concoction of swirling chorus guitars and pummeling hardcore punk drums, whilst singer Alica sends the crowd on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The year 2024 sees the band release their first full-length and touring new territories such as Switzerland, France and Italy.
