In honor of our producer Michael McGlynn (RIP) we release this 25 year old demo 'The Way We Live' on streaming services. This song sparked Michael's interest originally and is a big part of the reason we started working together. The song has never been released before. We will miss you Michael.
----
Aussie act Citizen (1997-2001) wrote & recorded melodic pop/rock inspired by the great songwriters of our time. The debut EP ‘Distance Between Strangers’ features tracks heard on Triple J Radio. Produced & lovingly crafted by Michael McGlynn & released in 2000, the EP featured the culmination of around 4 years worth of writing, recording, gigging & workshopping tracks in & around the Sydney region in Australia. Many tracks remain unrecorded in the Citizen vault & ideas generated during this time spilled out into the solo careers of lead writer @JamesDouglasCooper & his brother Greg.
Citizen’s cut ‘Everyone Seems to be Smiling’ is also out on streaming. Originally recorded in 1999 as a demo, this song has never before been released.
Citizen personnel were:
Rob McDowell - Drums, existential references, good humor
Cris Corte - Songwriter, keys, vocals, dad jokes
Greg Cooper - Guitars, Piano, harmonies, underage gigging
James Douglas Cooper - Songwriter, guitars, piano, vocals, way lofty ambitions
