Before some of today’s “extreme” guitarists were even born, Clark Colborn was roaring through the Midwest club & outdoor festival scene. His playing & stage presence earned him both recognition & respect as an “extreme” guitarist before the term existed. With bands such as Cheater, Rogue, & Sleight of Hand he tore up the stages night after night, sometimes playing to crowds numbering nearly 10,000 strong. Regional magazines & newspapers sang his praises. After a sudden onslaught of personal tragedies, Clark took a hiatus from the live performance environment to pursue adventure at the bottom of the oceans & deep into the jungle, then redefine, refine, & re-focus his musical vision.
The "Clark Plays Guitar" album is the result of that sabbatical. Loud, fiery, no-holds-barred, aggressive, hard rock guitar music at its core, yet with melodies & harmonies that some have called “beautiful” & “haunting.” Guitar Player Magazine said: “Clark Colborn’s fat and massively effected tone comes on like Godzilla, and it shifts between slinky, silky, scary, spiky, and searing. ...his brilliantly schizoid technical/primitive approach to the guitar is pretty exciting. In short, he rocks.” Performing with his band under the name "Clark Plays Guitar" for several years, Colborn eventually decided to return to recording & performing under his own name. However, his web site and certain social media sites still retain the "Clark Plays Guitar" imprint, in case you forget what he does. ;-)
