As a tinnitus sufferer, London-based electronic musician Clas Tuuth employs a songwriting process with hearing-care in mind; weaving improvised acoustic recordings of ukelele, guitar and wooden percussion into a patchwork of subtle electronic rhythms influenced by uk-garage, lo-fi, hip-hop and rave.
His first official release was a remix of indie-folk artist Rozi Plain which enjoyed radio play on 6music and Xfm. Tracks from each one of Clas’s previous releases have also enjoyed UK radio play from the likes of Nemone, Tom Ravenscoft, Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens. His debut album, “We Should Get Back”, was picked by Eddie Temple-Morris as one of his albums of the year and the lead single, Air, was championed by 6music’s Steve Lamacq. After which, a brief hiatus occurred owing to the onset of tinnitus.
Clas Tuuth set about developing a production process that is more friendly to hearing than tweaking frequencies on synthesisers, but also maintains his variety of influences. The first result of this was last year’s Say You Did and Silver Bullet EPs, which both feature collaborations with This Is The Kit’s Kate Stables, Clas continues this series of EPs in 2023 with the Waxwing EP, this time collaborating on two songs with folk artist Rachael Dadd.
