Clymax is a first generation Mexican American born in Houston, TX. He was raised in the underserved neighborhood of Magnolia, sharing a one bedroom home with three sisters and one brother.
Living in poverty, this young man found solace in two things: art and music. At the age of eight, his family moved to from the ghettos of Magnolia, to the overarching neighborhood Overbrook, located right across the train tracks to the historic SouthPark.
Clymax had a challenging upbringing. His father was an almost absent presence in the household, so he grew up lacking guidance from a male figure. He was drawn to the streets in his early teen years, admiring the corner hustlers and gang members for their thoughtless bravery and careless ferocity. He slowly spiraled in school, eventually being expelled from at the age of thirteen. It wasn’t until his High School years that Clymax was introduced to creating music, taking on his rap persona. He began freestyling with friends and family, forming the “Critykal Clan” and adopting his pseudo name, Clymax.
His style was molded by his reverence for lyrical magnates like K-Rino and Papoose, combined with his affinity for street poets like Z-Ro and 2pac. His smooth delivery, detailed story telling, and superb lyricism result in a rare, unparalleled sound.
