CMD/CTRL

CMD/CTRL is what CMD/CTRL does: We are not here to belong to a genre or adapt ourselves to any rules we just do what we instinctively feel like we want to do. We take the “roll the dice” approach and make music with no boundaries that is bass driven whilst on a twisted distorted highway.

Founding members Matt Rose and Alex Cowan first signed to Ninja Tune in 2014 Matt with the band The Qemists, co-writing their sophomore album, Spirit In The System. He then joined tech-metallers, Monuments, co-writing their debut album, Gnosis, as well as contributing towards their second album with the singles I, The Creator and Atlas.

In 2015, Matt collaborated with Dirtyphonics on their Write Your Future EP which was released on Steve Aioki’s Dimmak label, leading to a collaboration with Bass Music heavyweight, Excision, for the single Again & Again, featured on the Excision 2015 Mix Compilation.

Alex Cowan signed as a producer songwriter under the guises TM-Juke and the band LOYAL as well as producing & co writing 3 albums for acclaimed British soul singer Alice Russel (Tru Thoughts). He has also remixed tracks by David Guetta and Black Coffee.

Soon after forming in 2022, CMD/CTRL signed to Just Isn’t Music/Ninja Tune and began honing their sound. In 2022 they signed to Christian Tattsersfield and Nick Raphael’s brand new label NWS.
