Coaker’s Hat is a band of brothers, led by musical siblings Justin and Tyler Russell following in a long line of roots and Irish Newfoundland family bands such as The Clancy Brothers, The Louvin Brothers and The Walsh Family Band. In honour of St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Coaker’s Hat will be releasing two singles, a Double A-Side featuring two songs about love, “The Bachelor” and “Lover’s Life” produced by Brad Tuck of Shanneyganock and Fairgale.
With two strong songwriting voices powering the group, it was tough to settle on a track for the band’s next release. So, why choose? Coaker’s Hat decided to jointly promote two songs, “Lover’s Life” led by Tyler and “The Bachelor” sung by Justin! The lads encourage each other as writers and performers with a healthy dose of competition, but don’t expect any Black Crowesque cawing, or Oasis-style fist fights to break out on stage between the brothers Russell!
Brotherly love is the vibe. Coaker’s Hat is a band full of singer-songwriters more akin to Sloan or The Beatles where any member could step up and take the lead on a song. Future planned singles will feature fiddle player Leah Vokey Sing out front. Drummer Darryl Pilgrim keeps the backbeat of the band’s toe tappin’ party tunes, while bassist Jordan Young is a songwriter never far from a microphone . . . expect to hear more voices as Coaker’s Hat’s debut full length album takes shape over 2025!
