Los Angeles-based COATL (KÓAt•l) is an Alternative Metal band that treats the stage as sacred ground and every performance as a ritual. Founded by Alma Perez and Israel Vega, the band draws its name from the Nahuatl word Coatl, meaning serpent, a powerful symbol of transformation, duality, and ancient wisdom rooted in Aztec cosmology.

COATL’s sound is a ferocious blend of alternative metal grit, grunge’s emotional weight, kundalini energy groove, and earth-shaking riffs that hit with both force and feeling. Their music moves like a living entity, weaving together tribal instincts and modern aggression, spiritual depth and existential fire.

Lyrically, COATL explores the origins of mankind, our cosmic lineage, and the sacred relationship with Mother Nature, all while confronting the brutal challenges of surviving in a world that feels like it’s perpetually on fire. Their songs pulse with the urgency of ecological collapse, spiritual hunger, and the rebellion against systems designed to keep humanity asleep.
