Cocuyo is an emerging electronic artist and producer whose sound reflects the spirited and multicultural energy of Miami. Born in Havana, Cuba to a flamenco dancer, he grew up surrounded by melodies and movement. His childhood home was alive with the sounds of castanets, Afro-Cuban rhythms and the stomping of flamenco footwork. When the lights went out in Havana, he would sing heartfelt Mexican ballads and capture cocuyos (glowing fireflies), a magical memory that inspired his artistic moniker and vision.
After relocating to Miami, music remained dormant until the city's eclectic nightlife reignited Cocuyo's creative passion. Collaborations with musicians from across Latin America, including a Latin rock-pop band in the early years, became a gateway to exploring diverse musical traditions.
Now, with over 15 years of experience blending electronic sounds with storytelling, Cocuyo offers a fresh perspective on global dance music, bringing a vibrant new color and unique flavor to the ever-evolving scene.
