Cody returns with the album ‘Hurlstone Park: 2014 - 2019’ which is a retrospective of songs gathered from the dark reaches of the digital memory written and recorded between 2014 -19. Scavenged from the broken hard drives, with desk items assorted, thrown aside goods of the bottom draw, moving house again and again. These songs were recorded while I lived in Hurlstone Park, it was an era of recording in lounge rooms of either house, bottles half empty, bedrooms, tafe foyers, iPads in Tokyo, borrowing equipment till it was thought lost or stolen, returned.
Previously in 2024 Moore releases the album ‘At Parties’ which was written over the summer of 2024 in the South Coast town of Bermagui. After writing, Moore would drive north to the seaside studio of Stranded Recording Studios at Bellambi in the Illawarra to lay them down on tape with a collection of friends who moonlighted as the band. Moore has thrown away most of the jangly guitars and post punk rhythms for a steady piano based record that is honestly performed and sung live with the band in the room, with minimal overdubs. The album reflects the personal overtures and separations that Moore was going through at the time.
Written over long-haul flights, long drives and late nights, the 9-track follow-up to 2017's Perfume Nightmare combines post-punk, power pop and folk influences with weirdo stories and contradiction.
