Cold California (<a href="spotify:artist:7DuMrjdqPSIiF85TF8hoiV" data-name="Chris Burke">Chris Burke</a>, aged 23) is a country pop/rock music producer, songwriter and singer from Aberdeen, Scotland. Burke is set to release his exciting debut EP, <a href="spotify:album:38YODqvef4Vo5SZgZYWpIK" data-name="Sunrise">Sunrise</a>, on February 22rd 2019. Heavily influenced by American country music and his love of mainstream pop and rock music, Burke has fused these styles to create his signature sound.
With the release of Sunrise, Burke is breaking the mold for the UK music scene, and is hoping to bring country music into the national spotlight. Owning a burning desire for his music to be heard, 23 year old Burke has recently signed a distribution deal with AWAL.
The songwriting style of Burke can be attributed to his fondness of American country music acts such as <a href="spotify:artist:0BvkDsjIUla7X0k6CSWh1I" data-name="Luke Bryan">Luke Bryan</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0u2FHSq3ln94y5Q57xazwf" data-name="Keith Urban">Keith Urban</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:06HL4z0CvFAxyc27GXpf02" data-name="Taylor Swift">Taylor Swift</a>. His down-to-earth and relatable lyrics tell stories of love, friendship and tragedy.
His production approach is influenced by Electronic Dance Music artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:1vCWHaC5f2uS3yhpwWbIA6" data-name="Avicii">Avicii</a> and fellow-Scotsman <a href="spotify:artist:7CajNmpbOovFoOoasH2HaY" data-name="Calvin Harris">Calvin Harris</a>, collaborating with experienced session vocalists to deliver catchy, radio-friendly anthems.
“I decided that Sunrise was the perfect title for the EP because it not only gives off a warm feeling that matches the theme of the songs, but for me, it’s ideal for a debut release,” Burke explains.
Recording Sunrise in his home in Scotland, Burke then decided to recruit Nashville veterans Chad Carlson and Adam Ayan to assist in the mixing and mastering of the EP.
