Haling from the birthplace of America’s music, Jayess, Mississippi native Cole Powell entered the arts and entertainment scene with his 2011 debut Thanks For The Broken Heart, receiving positive reviews from critics in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
On the road, Powell and his bands headlined the 2014 Ole Brook Festival, served as the “after-party” act for Jimmie Van Zant, and opened for country stars Chris Janson and Chase Bryant at consecutive Atwood Music Festivals, Mississippi's longest running music festival.
As a recording artist, Powell charted on the iTunes U.S. Singer/Songwriter chart three times, won the 2020 Josie Music Award for EP of the Year, and formed country/rock trio Southern Gentry Music Review with wife and singer Brittany D and award-winning singer/songwriter Kyle Graves.
In 2022, Powell began hosting music reaction series Random Reactions on the Randomine Records YouTube channel. The success of the series led to the launch of Powell's arts and media podcast, Words Like That, the following year. By October 2024, the channel had garnered over 1 million views, driven by the strength of Powell's two series.
"Outlived My Life," Powell's first new original song since 2019, was released October 2024, with a forthcoming album of new original material planned for 2025. Powell followed the single release in December with Unfiltered X, a 10th anniversary edition of his sophomore album.
Powell has been a member of the Recording Academy since 2015.
