Originally from Connecticut, Colin has been an in demand professional guitarist in Nashville, TN since 2013. After a long career that traversed experimental rock, country, funk, and the world of working corporate and wedding bands, he launched the Colin Poulton Trio in 2023 to create a space for improvisation and composition and as a vehicle to explore his Hispanic roots through music.
The trio’s sound is inspired by Al Di Meola, Egberto Gismonti, Gary Burton, John Scofield, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The group released their debut single “The Admiral’s Misadventure” in April 2025 followed by the debut EP “Hot Water” in June 2025. Beyond jazz, he still remains actively engaged as a working musician, performing with some of the best musicians and singers in Nashville.
