Color Bones is Mo Assem, Sjaak van Dam and Martijn Engels, a three piece band from Utrecht. A classic set up of guitar, bass and drums, but also diverging into outspoken effects, moody handpan, low-end synths and odd percussion. The music is inevitably influenced by growing up with rock music in the nineties, yet there’s an unmistakably Belgian sound to be recognised. Supporting for bands like Flying Horseman (BE) and Mauro Pawlowski (BE) is evidence of that.
This year they released their third album Cadmium, the successor of Vermillion and Ultramarine, they moved slightly away from their alternative side to a more indie pop kind of vibe. Together with filmmaker Jop van de Kam they made multiple music videos to give the personal themes an extended visual representation.
To celebrate the release of Cadmium, they toured from city to city, playing at venues such as De Helling, Paard and AFAS LIVE. They also played shows as supporting act for Coach Party (UK) and Inhaler (IE).
