Although Texas is known primarily for spawning such down and dirty rockers as ZZ Top and Pantera over the years, the early 21st century emergence of a Lone Star State band that was more a kin to such pop/rock chart-toppers as Matchbox Twenty and Third Eye Blind, called Color. The quartet features Chris Cann (vocals), Dean Truitt (guitar), Chad Salls (bass), and Van Robbins (drums), and formed originally in the late '90s in Austin (two of their members, Salls and Truitt, were members of the short-lived, early-'90s power pop outfit Seed). In September of 2001, the quartet issued its debut album, Are You With Me? (on the Arista imprint Melisma), produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Serletic (whose previous credits include Matchbox Twenty, Aerosmith, and Santana, among others). ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
