Being a fourth generation vocalist, it's no surprise that Commoner13 was meant to peruse the life of music. His Great-Grandfather was a Professional Mourner in Ireland, his Grandmother a Jazz singer in New York City during the 1960s, and his Mother an international classical vocalist where she performed in front of the Pope. His late-Father helped in aiding his understanding of Classic Rock, as well as instilling a strong diligence for practice. At a young age his Father said, "One day you'll thank me for pushing you". Influences his father provided him with were Eddie Van Halen, and Ritchie Blackmore. Commoner's voice is powerful and raw, which when met with his unique guitar style lent him the nickname "Chon Mayer" amongst peers.

Since early childhood, music has been of great influence on Commoner13. Violin and Guitar education were started at the age of 7, and that has only led to an eagerness to learn Viola, Electric and Up-Right Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, and others. It was in Middle School that he began performing live with various rock bands until finally finding the line up for Vigil Antics where he was able to perform for bands such as Metal Chruch, Chris Jericho's Fozzy, and Saliva. At the age of 18, fresh out of High School, he got the phone call from Joe Venti asking if he would play with the rock legend Corky Laing of Mountain, an opportunity humbly seized.
