Compromise was formed in 1999 by brothers Jesse and Levi Zaraska, Jordan Wodehouse, and Ryan Kittlitz. The group followed a love for American metalcore like Poison the Well and Shai Hulud, and soon garnered a strong following in western Canada. The group worked hard, releasing their first ep, Yesterday Was Everything, in 2001, and their second, For You, a year later. Sadly, the strong touring ethic that the band lived by from early on caught up to them one night while traveling from Birmingham, Alabama to Savannah, Georgia. In the early morning hours of June 13th, the group’s van was struck from behind by a drunk driver. In the ensuing crash guitar players Jordan Wodehouse and Daniel Langlois were killed. The remaining members disbanded, and, aside from a few reunion appearances, did not play together for the better part of two decades. Jesse Zaraska would go on to join 7 Angels 7 Plagues and soon thereafter form Misery Signals. Ryan Kittlitz formed the metalcore outfit Savannah in 2002 and toured extensively before they called it quits when n 2007. He would later go on to play with LA sludge rockers All Hail the Yeti and has recently been part of the acid helps. Braden Sustrik became a school teacher in the group’s hometown of Sherwood Park, Alberta. In early 2019, the group, brought together again due to Covid, began writing new material. Perihelion is the first new song the group has put out in twenty years. Trust these wings.
