Conrad De Souza

Inspired by the legacy of British singer-songwriters, 60’s guitar pop and a slice of 80’s electro, Conrad De Souza is a songwriting musician and vocalist from the UK, who has been performing and recording since 1985. Quirky lyrics and funky guitar work often feature in his tunes, together with an emphasis on melody and vocal harmonies.
Performing initially with guitar band ‘4th of July’, a succession of outfits followed from ‘The Mighty Llamas’, ‘Johnson and De Souza’ and ‘Mind The Gap’ to ‘Bark!’ in the late 90’s. ‘Bark!’ was a fun and effective vehicle for Conrad’s songs, but after gigging around Essex and London and the release of their album ‘Bonafido’ in 2000, the band bid farewell in 2002.
Conrad went solo, releasing the albums ‘Unfinished Business’ in 2005 and ‘Strawberry Yoga’ in 2009, although he sometimes joined lively Essex Rock ’n’ Rollers ‘Tequila’ on stage in the 00’s.
A “Best of” collection ‘Random Acts of Creation’ was released in 2015 featuring previous highlights and some new material. In 2016, Conrad released his 1st album with new virtual band ‘Macrowasp’, providing his songs with a pronounced electro-pop feel and giving voice to his teenage 80’s influences.
While the original songs keep coming, you can also catch him live in the Essex area when he steps in from time to time with popular local party band ‘Frog On A Rocket’ and inventive acoustic covers duo ‘Fully Re-Covered’.
