Thanks for checking out Nashville's progressive metal weather band! ⚡🔥⚡
Back in 2011, Convection was merely a few experimental ideas imagined by multi-instrumentalist and founder Brian Ellis. Due to his insatiable interest in meteorology, metaphor, and prog. rock alike, the writings would carry a combination of all in theme. After about 3 years, a raw 17 track album entitled "Into Darkness" was independently released in summer of 2014.
A few more years and many line-up changes later, their debut record on nature and balance, Polarity, dropped in spring of 2017. This album featured a much more progressive, heavy metal sound brought together by vocalist Ben Forbes, guitarist Steven Jacobs, and bassist Ben Morris. Finally, at the end of the same year, drummer Mathias Fodor joined to complete the line-up.
On Feb. 20, 2020, Convection brought forth their second record, Kepler. With a more refined and experimental sound, Kepler is described by the band as a personal story of struggle and strife, set to an interstellar theme. It was during this era that Ben Morris (after joining GRYMM) would pass the bass guitar to long-time friend (and early years guitarist) Chris Healey.
Moving forward, Convection has continued its experimental journey with the release of The Ghost of Albert Gallatin EP. A pot-luck of progressive metal, rock, orchestral, and electronic music, this record is the first to have every member involved in the creative process from beginning to end.
