Themba Mhlongo, a passionate and talented Saxophonist, Composer, Arranger, and Session Musician from Balfour, Mpumalanga, South Africa. Born on July 7th, 2001, I've been driven by a love for music that started at a young age.
My musical journey began in 2014 when I was 12 years old, playing the Trumpet under the guidance of Linda Nyembe in the "Red Carpet Brass Band" at the church S.t James Of Prophecy In Faith Mission. In 2019, I expanded my skills by learning Clarinet, and in 2020, I switched to Saxophone, teaching myself both instruments. After completing my matric in 2022, I pursued formal music education at the "Music Academy Of Gauteng" under the renowned Dr. Johny Mekoa, where I honed my skills in music theory and practical performance. I've had the privilege of learning from esteemed musicians like Linda Tshabalala and Mthunzi Mvubu, who helped me develop my jazz skills and music reading abilities.
I've also had the opportunity to collaborate with the SAJE Band, led by the talented female pianist Lindi Ngonelo. I've been fortunate enough to share the stage with legendary musicians like Khaya Mahlangu, Sam Ibeh, Hendrick Monyeki, Chad Alexander, and C-blak, with whom I've recorded projects like "Buya Fana".
