Take some disarmingly honest and heartworn storytelling, flavour it with generous lashings of twang and gritty rock and you get Copperline. The Sydney/Blue Mountains alt-country four-piece have lived and breathed the highs and lows of the rock and low life – and that experience can’t help but find its way into their music.

The band launched their debut record Rusty Fords and Weatherboards (produced by Shane Nicholson) back in 2018. Decades in the making, it showcased both Copperline’s musical versatility and reverence for the classic song writing of everyone from Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams to Tom Waits.

On the back of strong interest in the record, Copperline set off on the road, taking their dynamic show around the country including debut festival appearances at Tamworth and the Blue Mountains Blues and Roots Festival.

The band returned to the studio in 2021, again with collaborator Shane Nicholson, with a brand-new batch of songs. The result is a body of work that builds on the band’s trademark blend of story-telling and twang, while also exploring broader and richer soundscapes and moods.

On the back of strong interest their most recent single Lucinda – which saw the boys earn high rotation on ABC Country and rack up more than 60,000 Spotify streams – Copperline set of on tour recently with local Americana legend, Matt Joe Gow. They’re looking forward to hitting the road again in support of their soon-to-be-released second record, Borrowed, Broken and Blue.
