We are Corax, a melodic death metal band from Nokia Finland, consisting of 5 young men in their late teens. First incarnation of Corax was formed in 2019 as a result of a junior high school band group. We've had a couple of line-up changes since then but the current line-up is here to stay. The current line-up is:
Arttu Sairiala (vocals, since 2019-)
Jarkko Liimatainen (guitar, since 2020-)
Lauri Leskinen (guitar, since 2019-)
Taneli Aitola (bass, since 2020)
Onni Rantanen (drums, since 2019-)
First ever Corax song, Swan of the Underworld, was born in 2019, which was also the first song our main songwriter Onni Rantanen wrote. Lyrics for that song were a collaboration between the singer Arttu Sairiala and Onni. The idea for that song came from the Finnish national epic, Kalevala, where there's a story of a swan that swims in the rivers of the land of the dead. Next two songs, Prisoner of God and Ode to Oblivion were also composed by Onni Rantanen, only exception being one riff in the song Prisoner of God, which was partly written by a former guitarist Valtteri Anttila. In the summer of 2021 we recorded our debut EP at Studio Sampolaaris in Tampere. Besides the three original composition we arranged a cover of Volga, Finnish version of Dschinghis Khans disco hit Moskau.
