Corey Hill is a singer, songwriter and producer born in a small town called Scotland Neck, NC, heavily influenced by the spiritual elements of the Baptist church. His love for music created a gravitation to the choir. Corey’s first experience as a soloist came at age 8 singing “O Holy Night” in a Christmas service. At that point he knew singing would be his lifelong passion. Corey maintained his foundational connection to the church, but still drawn to the melodic spaces of R&B music and his favorite artist, Michael Jackson. Corey joined the chorus in 7th grade and continued through high school, establishing himself as a standout performer. Corey joined the Army in 1987 upon graduation from high school. While stationed at Camp Humphreys, Korea, he competed regionally and was selected as a solo act for the 8th US Army Soldier Show Tour. In 1991 while deployed in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Corey met and formed a musical partnership with Raymond Theard. We formed our first group (4U). Upon our return home, we acquired a record deal with Bryant/Ichiban Records. Our single “Seasons Change” recorded in 1992, made significant noise on the east coast. Military obligations took priority, but Corey and Ray reunited in 1993 to form our next group (Diversity) in Hawaii. Fast-forward 30 years, Ray set the stage for our independent resurgence with my solo release, “Lay Your Head on My Shoulder.” A 34-year US Army veteran, husband and girl dad, the dream will never fade.
