Counter the Eulogy

Counter The Eulogy is Austrian Rock since 2014. It all started when Markus and Steve decided to revive an old band project. It took quite some time but eventually, the line-up was completed with Stefan and Matthias, who turned out to be perfect fits for the band.

The music of the band is inspired by groups like Jimmy Eat World, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Three Doors Down, Alter Bridge and many more. The lyrics are influenced by songwriters like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen as well as classical authors like James Joyce and Franz Kafka.

The band's debut album 'Transitions‘ has been completely self-produced and was released in September 2016 featuring a unique mixture of singer/songwriter inspired alternative rock and captivating lyrics. After some touring to promote 'Transitions' Counter the Eulogy decided to team up with a dedicated producer for their next release, who has been found in the person of Mike Wolff (Kontrust).

Songwriting and pre-production for the new EP, soon to be entitled 'With Eyes Wide Open", started in 2017 and after several iterations on the recorded songs the first single 'Borders (Radio Edit)' has been released on March 20, 2020. The next single 'Running Away' was released on September 18. The sound of the new material is more towards post-grunge but still not easy to categorize, giving it its own personality.
