Covalent is a three piece band from central Massachusetts founded on friendship and the shared idea that bonds with others, ourselves, and our environment define how we experience this life. Exploring themes of hardship, love, and overcoming, their songs are chapters that make up introspective stories told through the lenses of both modern science and ancient Eastern philosophy. Overarching concepts of interconnectedness and balance not only organize the lyrics into a chronology and progression of ideas, they are also represented in the settings where these stories are told—the music. Combining elements of genres ranging from brutal deathcore to emotional singer/songwriter, this trio crafts the musical setting for each chapter based solely on what the story necessitates, however divergent that may be from any perceived norms. This unique approach aims to make the experience of Covalent’s music and live show unlike any other young band, but more so to plant the seeds of an alternative, imaginative universe in listeners’ minds.
