Cristina Lliso came to prominence as the singer from Esclarecidos, one of the many bands associated with the Movida Madrileña of the 1980s, which included among its members her husband, Alfonso Pérez, as well as producer Suso Saiz. While the band never achieved massive popularity, it enjoyed significant critical recognition, and Lliso was considered one of the finest female vocalists from the period. After releasing seven studio albums, Esclarecidos dissolved in 1997. Lliso, Pérez, and Saiz started an electronic project called Lliso, but the trio called it quits after only one album and one EP that went unnoticed. In 2012, Cristina Lliso returned from a self-imposed retirement of 14 years with her first proper solo album, the largely acoustic Si Alguna Vez. ~ Mariano Prunes, Rovi
