Crowded Skies first formed in 2005 when school mates Jeremy Brisebois and John Trude discovered that they shared a similar vision of bringing a chapter of The Dead Poet's Society to Canada's Capital Region (Ottawa, ON).
When attendance whittled down due to excessive weirdness, Jeremy bought a guitar, John dusted his off, and they started writing songs together. That didn't last long, so they wrote songs separately and then did a 50/50 split in the interest of fairness.
A mysterious ex-military man named "Rob" briefly joined on drums before being replaced by Jeremy's cousin. Similarly, their first bassist perished due to natural causes, and was eventually replaced (after a period of mourning) by a husky man named "Sebs". He played 100% by ear.
The group toured around Canada's Capital Region, and even made it so far as the GTA, all the while recording and releasing their debut album, "Fire Off The Hill". Mirroring their alt-country roots at the time, it was a dark record though the country twang tended to make it sound livelier. To this day, all former members are proud of the experience.
Alas, it was not to be. After playing Ottawa's Westfest, the group disbanded. Jeremy Brisebois started up The Polymorphines, while John went to meditate in the mountains. He would of stayed longer, but his wife at the time ordered him to come home (they have since divorced).
After failing to procure a fortified compound in Aspen, Colorado, John re-activated Crowded Skies.
