Initially released by Time Bomb Recordings in 1998, this was the 2nd and final release by Crumbox, an indie rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Map of the Sky was recorded by Caleb Southern (Archers of Loaf, Ben Folds Five) over 2 weeks in the bowels of Hollywood, and reflects Crumbox's growth from a straight ahead indie punk band to a band with a more refined sound utilizing piano, synthesizer, mellotron and some hand claps. This maturity is most vividly displayed by the song "Crush The Star", which was in lengthy rotation on a number of major commercial radio station playlists in the United States, and reached number 1 at several commercial alternative rock stations. While in existence, the band toured with other bands from a burgeoning indie/emo scene, including Jimmy Eat World, Archers of Loaf, The Presidents of the United States, Knapsack, Sensefield, Orbit, Jejuene and The Pulsars. While historically Crumbox's lineup had shakeups, the members of the band performing on Map of the Sky included Frank Cunsolo (guitar/vocals), Dave Smith (bass/piano), Keith Fallis (drums) and Scott Bradford (vocals/ guitar).
