From old school style riffing of Led Zeppelin and progressive arrangements of Rush and Queensryche, to the bottom-heavy bass of King’s X, Iron Maiden and Soundgarden, Crushing Ground has a wide variety of influences.
There have been several versions of this hard rock power trio over the last 20 years. The first version of the band is Rob Roush on vocals and guitar, Chris Szekely on bass and vocals and Darrin Rathgeb on drums. Together, they released their debut, "Zero" in December of 2001.
The second version of the band is Rob Roush, Keith Uram on bass and Josh Walters (formerly of The Juliana Theory) on drums and percussion. They released CG's second effort, "Rite of Passage" in November of 2012.
The third version of CG is Rob Roush, Josh Walters and Sammy Brant on bass guitar and background vocals. They released, "Digital Vultures" in January of 2021. Each version of the group has had a distinctively different sound. Roush is the only member of Crushing Ground there since the beginning.
"CG has always been an evolving project and the ampersand chosen for the band's symbol has become prophetic. You tend to write songs for yourself and the musicians in your band. I am grateful I had the opportunity to work with so many different players and such incredible talent over the years. It's been a diverse musical journey so far."
