On her first day of school, Crystal Maxwell, told her teacher that when she grew up, she wanted to wear leather and play bass like Suzi Quatro. She did grow up and has been known to wear leather, but abandoned her bass ambitions the first time she saw Rick Parfitt play a Telecaster. To this day, she still has a soft spot for middle aged men with blonde hair.
Teenage Crystal saved and bought her first guitar. It wasn't a Telecaster because they were too expensive for her. It was a Monterey acoustic. We like to call this her, 'Kasey Chambers era'. For the next decade or so, she strummed the only 4 chords she knew and questioned why her career never took off.
In 2019, tired of her own bullshit excuses, she kicked herself in the butt and started guitar lessons to begin her musical glow-up. Armed with a few more chords (barre chords) and having performed one solo once, she confidently joined a couple bands and performed with them whilst writing original material on the side.
Crystal's first single, 'Come Find Me' was produced by Chris Samakovidis at Revolver Sound Studio. Crystal ate a lifechanging Conti from Charlie's that day.
She finally got her Telecaster and it's one of the guitars you can hear on this track.
