Cures and Curses is difficult to pin down; a brief run through the artist’s Spotify proves that. Frenetic alt-pop. Stadium rock. Anthemic emo. All of the above. While the musical palette may be chaotic, there’s one clear uniting characteristic: it’s utterly captivating.

Aaron Akpojaro, the 26-year old artist and producer behind Cures and Curses, has spent the last few years blazing an impassioned trail through the industry with a series of stellar releases, earning acclaim from numerous publications. The appeal is undeniable; earworm pop choruses with emotive lyrics and crashing guitars.

In September, Cures and Curses debuted ‘Noise From Below’ - an ambitious, multi-genre, multi-instalment musical project. ‘Drop #1’ is a sharp slice of musical whiplash, featuring two disparate tracks; ‘If It Ain’t Me’, an introspective hip-hop-leaning track, and ‘Under The Lens’ a bouncy, alt-rock banger with a gnarly groove.

‘Drop #2’ arrived on 26th April with two new and characteristically opposed tracks; the forlorn heartbreak pop song ‘It Has To Be This Way’ and ‘Found Heaven’, a soaring pop-rock banger. . It’s another bold showcase of the artist’s diverse musical ability.
