Custard is a dream-pop/shoegaze five piece that drifts effortlessly between the ethereal and the surreal. With lush, atmospheric soundscapes, emo tinged guitars and a whimsical edge, their music feels like stepping into a daydream that’s just slightly off-kilter. Fronted by lead vocalist Jazz Jones, who describes the band’s essence with the phrase, “I always wanted to be Alice, but I was the Mad Hatter,” Custard embraces the beauty of chaos and contradiction. Their sound weaves together haunting melodies, shimmering guitars, and a sense of wonder, creating a sonic world
where the magical meets the unexpected.
Crumb meets Beach-House, Custard emphasises the importance of individuality through surrealism. With a do it yourself attitude. Custard brings hand-made audio visual aspects to the stage. Inspired by internet pop-star Mars Argo, Jazz takes a modern approach to writing shoegaze melodies. Much like Lewis Carol’s Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland, Custard exhibits what it’s truly like to be in a that world of your own.
“Custard were an amazing band with a very dreamy sound and a great vibe on stage. The trumpet added a fantastic layer to the performance. They were overall very accomplished on stage and the audience clearly enjoyed what was a fantastic performance!” (Rough Edges, 2025)
