Jóhanna Rakel aka Joe (they/them) and Salka Valsdóttir (she/her) have been making music under the name CYBER since 2016. The two musicians started working together in their teens as they joined the female/gender non-binary rap collective Daughters of Reykjavík, a band that has since taken the European music industry by storm with it's energetic stage performance and brave lyricism. Since then the two rascals have shaped CYBER into the avant-pop, conceptual electronica, aesthetically pleasing extravanganza it's well known as today in Reykjavík.
Joe and Salka use their diverse artistic backgrounds to create the world of CYBER. Joe (aka STEPMOM, JoeBoxer) studied visual arts and has lent their spectacular eye to the film industry as a set decorator, stylist and social media specialist as well as curating for galleries in Reykjavík. Salka (aka neonme) studied audio engineering and has worked as an in-house producer and engineer in multiple studios as well as working as a composer and sound designer for theater, film and TV.
