Cyco Thah Urchin grew up on the west side of Chicago. At the age of 5, I used to stand with my hands to my side rocking back and fourth dancing to the sound of my mother’s washing machine. At age 11 is when I knew I wanted to be an entertainer. I, my brother Deon and my cousins use to beat on my moms pots and pans acting like we were a big rap group. We moved to Milwaukee but moved back to Chicago 2 years later. I was told by my mother that I have a gift, a talent that I must use before God takes it from me, so I did. I’ve always liked music ever since my uncle use to play that LL album “I’m Bad”. I grew up digging cats like Slick Rick, Run DMC, Busta, TK Disco and more. I guess it was around 8th grade when I started wanting to be a part of the music world, not knowing back then that it was actually a business.
Years later I joined a crew called A.M.N. (A Mob of Ni99as) which led to me doing my first real performance. After my short stint of appearing on the silver screen i.e. “Angel Street with Robin Givens” and the T.V. show called” The Early Edition” with Coolio and Tone Loc, I started performing in talent shows and it was around that time that I performed at south side Entertainment’s Talent Showcase in Dolton Ill., where I met Dana Johnson. While in Milwaukee, I produced, and / or written material for many independent acts around the globe.
