Styles of Music: Americana - Bluegrass - Country
Traditional Irish - Everything Christmas
One of the family stories about me as a child was that I would bounce my playpen over to the piano every day to pound on it. All that bouncing did a number on my playpen, but I hope it gives you a general idea of what a hold music had on me from the very beginning. I eventually got out of the playpen and started taking piano lessons. Then I started a trio in elementary school. I was always the lead vocalist, and we performed at recess for anyone who would listen, or anyone who couldn’t get far enough away from us.
Step-by-step I followed music wherever it wanted to take me. Eventually, it took me to songwriting and I fell in love. When I am writing songs, the known world gets smaller and the world of tones, words, rhythm, beats and measures comes alive. It’s a place where the impossible is not, wrongs are righted, satire is invited, the lines of reverence blur, and where nice girls don’t finish last.
