After five years performing as Cyr, brother-sister duo Eric and Rachel Cyr added drums (Brady Kamphenkel) and keys (Peter Brown) to form Cyr and the Cosmonauts. The quartet performs an eclectic mix of Americana and beyond with tight vocal harmonies, explosive dynamics, space to breathe and space to blast. Their eccentric, original songs feature probing lyrics and search for the cosmos hidden in the chaos.
Their debut album, Callused, was released in 2018 featuring Sten Duginski on drums, Keith Yanes (Very Trio, Tacky Annie) on bass, and Peter Brown on keys. Recorded at Sacred Heart Studio in Duluth, MN, the record was engineered by Tom Fabjance (Trampled by Turtles, Smashing Pumpkins) and mastered by Huntley Miller (Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso).
In 2021, the band releases their follow-up, Songs to Sing Before We're Dead, completed during the covid pandemic and featuring a meditation of death and a celebration of life.
