Cznbaby

Cznbaby (pronounced Season Baby), born Essien Christopher Ita, is a Nigerian genre-defying artist. The 24-year-old from Cross River State began his music journey in 2021 after inspiration from fellow Nigerian musicians such as Ogranya, Jess ETA, and Layzee Ella. As a child, Cznbaby has always loved music. He recalls being among the kids who sang carols during Christmas gatherings. A skilled clarinet player in junior high school, he joined an orchestra and honed his musical abilities.

Speaking on his decision to make music professionally, Cznbaby said, "I grew to love the process, and I figured if I kept developing myself, I could make a living with it." He officially debuted in 2022 with the self-written "Nkechi," commanding attention from industry professionals and music lovers in Calabar. When asked to describe his genre of music, Cznbaby opted for words such as "soothing" and "feel good" in contrast to naming a genre. He, however, cites artists such as Mannywellz, Jessie Reyez, Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown as his musical idols. In addition to being a melodious vocalist and an expressive songwriter, Cznbaby is a dynamic live performer whose biggest stage performance was the 2022 Fun Festival in Calabar. When the Calabar-based artist is not writing and producing songs, he can be found in the kitchen, on the football field, or stationed in front of his favorite video games.
