Derek Strand otherwise known as “D James” was born February 16 2006 first got introduced to music when he was only 3. Derek at the time was surrounded by a lot of early 2000s hits and kidz bop on the radio which he wasn’t feeling too much. He didn’t like music at the time until he was introduced to The <a href="spotify:artist:03r4iKL2g2442PT9n2UKsx" data-name="Beastie Boys">Beastie Boys</a>. This changed everything when he heard the first track off of Hello Nasty “Super Disco Breakin” from that point on he knew he wanted to make music. He got introduced to other artists overtime like <a href="spotify:artist:3CQIn7N5CuRDP8wEI7FiDA" data-name="Run–D.M.C.">Run–D.M.C.</a> <a href="spotify:artist:34EP7KEpOjXcM2TCat1ISk" data-name="Wu-Tang Clan">Wu-Tang Clan</a> <a href="spotify:artist:20qISvAhX20dpIbOOzGK3q" data-name="Nas">Nas</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:09hVIj6vWgoCDtT03h8ZCa" data-name="A Tribe Called Quest">A Tribe Called Quest</a>. Hip Hop hasn’t always been his main genre either.
