DAMAGR is a Memphis-based electronic music and generative video artist who blends ambient, down-tempo, IDM, dub, and techno influences into songs and textures designed to get you lost.
His debut album, "Model:Citizen," released through Future-Everything, is a masterclass in ambient electronica and a love letter to the Elektron Model:Cycles, which has played a significant role in his creative process. Each track is a study in dichotomies, paradoxes, and contradictions, weaving contrasting emotions into a cohesive listening experience, best represented in the track 'Fracas and Chill.'
His follow-up album, REVIVER, explores the next evolution of those themes, but through the lens of reflections, mirrors, and palindromes, swapping out the Model:Cycles for the Elektron Syntakt, Behringer TD3, and a Digitakt for background ambient loops that pull the listener in and out of each song. This time, more heavily inspired by acid-techno and the 303, but still through his down-tempo ambient perspective.
Before DAMAGR, David Sparks was often found in the Memphis hardcore, metal, and indie rock scene. His experience in those different genres and friendships in Memphis's electronic music scene continue to influence his process in unexpected ways as he explores new territory.
