Dan Asio: your friendly, neighborhood musician, songwriter, and halfway decent human being trying to make a name for himself with one he kind of made up. With influences from almost every genre across multiple generations of music, this avid music lover's own songs can be described as a personal, contemplative commentary on this journey called life. A synthesis of many sounds and ideas, past and present (mostly past), paired with the frustrations of today's world.
Straight Answer: Take the musings of 60s/70s songwriters, mix it with 90s undertones, and you got what he's jamming on right now.
His first foray into serious songwriting came in college with his heavy, funk/rock band Tonic Freight Train, which would jump-start his path in music. He would study it in college, pursue the band and quickly grow as a lyricist and songwriter. TFT would go on to play countless high-energy shows all around the Chicagoland area and release a 3-track EP and a handful of singles before entering their current hiatus.
With the band on hold, Dan now had time to cultivate a side of his songwriting that never quite lined up with the band. A more gentle and vulnerable side that let's the song go where it wants to go, regardless of style or genre. His latest release was Still Jaded, a 6-track EP inspired by the disconnect, confusion and lack of empathy that most modern media brings. He has begun work on follow-up releases due out later this year. Stay tuned, stay curious, and keep loving.
