Dan studied saxophone performance, clarinet and flute doubling with second study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Paul Stevens, Mick Foster, Nick Moss and Christian Forshaw.
At 15, Dan was the baritone sax and bass clarinet player with the multi award winning Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra - holding the chair for 3 Years.
He has been a member of both the National Youth Music Theatre Company (NYMT) and the British Youth Music Company (BYMT) performing in world premieres of new musicals 'Fagin' and 'The Great Gatsby' - “As musical director, (Adam) Gerber leads an animated performance by the nine-piece band, in which Dan Buxton on saxophone and clarinet stands out in particular” - Christopher Wiley, Musical Theatre Review
Dan is in demand as a baritone sax player with many renowned big bands, playing with the likes of the Steve King Big Band, Fat Chops Big Band, Guildhall Jazz Orchestra, Duke Street Big Band and the London Jazz Orchestra.
He has played with top singers including Clare Teal, Claire Martin, Matt Ford and Ashton Jones and with leading musicians including Louis Dowdeswell, Matt Harris, James Morrison, Andy Panayi, Bobby Shew, Callum Au and Alex Clarke.
Dan is a founding member and baritone sax player of the in demand Melos Saxophone Quartet.
Dan released his first single 'Thursday Rain' in collaboration with 'Olda' in 2020.
Dan and Olda released 'Indah' with Fortune Cookie Records in October 2023
