An independent artist hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Dan Millward is ready to introduce his thoughtful approach to pop music to the rest of the world. A singer-songwriter at heart, music has played a fundamental role in Dan’s upbringing. At 12, Dan started playing drums in the local church band and began teaching himself guitar through YouTube videos. With little to no formal training, Dan’s DIY attitude still persists to this day.
In 2017, Dan jumped on a plane to California to continue honing his craft and connect with other artists and producers. Developing his sound over time, Dan began to embrace both the melodic and melancholic, keeping things sombre but with a hopeful tone. Influenced by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dan’s music is indie but with a pop twist and is focused on story and being genuine. In other words, pop music without ego.
Although early days, Dan’s sound has begun to gain traction online. With a catalogue of only 13 tracks, the singer-songwriter has already surpassed 3 million streams on Spotify and gained a respectable following of 100,000 plus monthly listeners. His first debut EP ‘GENUINE’ was released at the beginning of 2023 and has already reached over a million streams! As momentum builds, Dan Millward is definitely one to watch!
