Danai Papadopoulou

Danai Papadopoulou is a musician, songwriter and vocalist based in Athens, Greece. Born in 1986 to a family of musicians, songwriters and lyricists, she started playing music at a young age, as well as working as a vocalist in advertising from the age of five, lending her voice to hundreds of spots and jingles. She proceeded to studying guitar, music theory and piano at the conservatoire, attending and graduating from music high-school (Experimental Music High-school of Pallini) and acquiring a degree in Music Studies from the Kapodestrian University of Athens. She also studied vocal arts and technique with an iconic teacher for 5 years, mrs. Mirka Yemendzaki. She plays ney and piano and has been singing professionally since 2004. She has worked as a community musician and choir conductor in various organizations. As a singer she has collaborated with various noteworthy musicians of the Greek music scene and has been working for many years in Athens as well as the Greek islands, thus developing a special relationship with the Aegean musical sound. She specializes mostly in traditional Greek singing, focusing on the genres of Aegean, Asia minor and rebetiko, as well as contemporary urban folk Greek music. Currently she works as a singer and vocal instructor and continues to work in advertising as a vocal artist. She is completing the recordings of her first singer/songwriter album, in which she's collaborating with award winning producer Renos Papastavros.
