Icelandic artist Daníel Hjálmtýsson embodies a sonic fusion reminiscent of the likes of Nick Cave, Mark Lanegan and Depeche Mode, set against a Leonard Cohen afterworld.
The band consists of lead songwriter, singer and instrumentalist Daníel Hjálmtýsson, Hálfdán Árnason on bass and various and Dagur Atlason on drums and various with international and domestic collaborators stepping in every now and then.
Releasing the debut album, Labyrinthia in 2022, DH received critical praise and the act´s personal and poetic expression of rock ´n roll was coined neo-gothic by the late great Mark Lanegan. The band toured Europe and US with the album´s lead single, "No Reception" becoming a hit in their home of Iceland as well as in Italy and being curated as Song of The Day at Seattle´s KEXP.
Daníel Hjálmtýsson continued touring in 2024 while working on the projects sophomore album to be released in 2025.
2024 was brought to a close with "Mirror, Mirror" the debut single from DH´s upcoming album "A Piece of Broken Glass". The poetic take on body dysmorphia and depression was catered with a Lynch-esque music video shot on the streets of Bucharest, Romania earlier in the year.
"Helplessly Hopeless" is the 2nd single from the upcoming album, seeing a release on February 28th with DH taking to the road in a solo setting with UK´s influential talent and friend, Duke Garwood in March of 2025.
